The fastest event of this spring - MINI JCW Rocket Race in the Arena GP karting hall in Moscow - has come to an end. Especially for the promotion and presentation of the new MINI John Cooper Works sports model, the creative event agency DEPARTÁMENT organised a karting championship consisting of 12 dizzying events.
For three months, teams of journalists, bloggers, customers and members of the MINI People Club from different cities competed for the championship trophy every week. The competition consisted of qualifying heats, individual races and relay races. Everything for real: seriously, to the limit and with MINI fans as loyal supporters.
With 10 intense races behind them, the agency came up with and realised the world's most unusual night karting race before the final tournament, which was a warm-up and a highlight of the brand's advertising campaign. The informal event was held in MINI's characteristic bright manner with many unexpected activations.
The night race participants had to drive in almost complete darkness with minimal illumination by torches attached to the karts and light beams, the most powerful of which was Darth Vader's laser sword. Some were luckier and got Queen Elizabeth II herself as navigator, while some were chased by a one-of-a-kind police kart. To add to the hurricane of emotions in this fan race, the brand raffled off additional prizes.
Out of 36 teams participating in the championship, 11 best teams reached the finals, and the winners of the JCW Rocket Race and the "genius of speed" were the Push Push team - members of the Moscow MINI People Club, who in October will go to Dubai, where they will defend the colours of the Russian MINI community within the framework of the famous karting marathon. The rest of the JCW Rocket Race results can be seen on the promotional website of the campaign.
According to the results, we can say with confidence that the organisers have achieved all their goals - to create a truly large-scale sporting event of the highest level. The teams enjoyed the positive atmosphere and uncompromising competition.
