On the eve of the 2016 Ice Hockey World Championship, DEPARTÁMENT presented the thematic exhibition "Red Machine. Race for Gold". The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of hockey in Russia and tells about the victorious march of the Russian national team on the world arena. The temporary exposition is located in the newly opened Hockey Museum at the Park of Legends, where all matches of the Russian national team will be held;
The concept of the exhibition is to recreate the chronology of the main events telling about the history of the main sport of the country: starting from 1946, when hockey was born in the USSR, up to 1991, when the Red Machine brought medals from every World Championship and Olympic Games. Recognised sports journalists Vsevolod Kukushkin and Grigory Tvaltvadze were invited to curate the exhibition.
The space, designed as a modern ice arena, contains more than 200 rare exhibits: from original cups and medals to elements of equipment and personal belongings of athletes. Walking around the hall, one can see goalkeeper Vladislav Tretiak's trap, Vsevolod Bobrov's skates, Anatoly Tarasov's whistle, Valeri Kharlamov's gloves, get acquainted with previously unpublished photos and videos, and be photographed in professional equipment. An audio tour in Russian and English, performed by Grigory Tvaltvadze and available in the mobile application izi.TRAVEL, was created especially for the visitors. And we express our gratitude to our partner - SINERGIA company
The grand opening of the exhibition "Red Machine. Race for Gold", held on 2 May, was visited by: Honoured Masters of Sports of the USSR Vyacheslav Fetisov and Alexei Kasatonov, forward Pavel Bure, as well as the first vice-president of the FHL Roman Rotenberg and other sports figures. On the 4th of May the FHL President Vladislav Tretyak and head coach Oleg Znarok presented the players of this year's Russian national team in the museum, and in the near future the same place will host press conferences and events within the framework of the World Cup 2016.
