RED7
Social presentation of the new complex

Critics have written that this house expresses an architectural idea of modernity in the Minecraft era. Its protrusions resemble red bricks stacked into an expressive irregularly shaped silhouette that both echoes and contradicts the People's Commissariat building across the street, which was built in the 1930s by Shchusev, the author of the Mausoleum.

The RED7 house is a project of the Dutch bureau MRDV and the Russian group of companies "Osnova", and it will be a vivid example of star architecture, which is so lacking in Moscow with its ambitions. On November 15, we held a presentation of this project at Troyka Multispace. Now we will tell you point by point.

Who are MVRDV?

It is a bureau founded in 1993 by Vini Maas with Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Fries. In almost thirty years of work, they have realized projects all over the world, and the hallmark of their style is a play on form that mocks structural function. MVRDV's architecture peaked with the Markthall project in Rotterdam, a house that arcs over a first floor food market, which you've probably seen on architectural websites.
