AUDI: SPACE TEST DRIVE
COLLECTIVE ENTRY INTO THE STRATOSPHERE IN THE NEW AUDI A4

The smart and robotic Audi A4 of the new generation is by all accounts a guest from the future. That is why we decided that during the first test drive in Russia, the open space should be passing outside the car windows. "No borders, no limits. We wanted to do something out of the ordinary, something that Moscow, tired of events, will be talking about for a long time to come. And, thanks to DEPARTÁMENT, we succeeded," says Ekaterina Pokidova, event manager of Audi Russia. "To install a space portal on the ground floor of a shopping centre, albeit such an advanced one as Tsvetnoy, is a risky experiment. But all our fears were dispelled on the very first day, when the queue around the installation could not see the end".

A futuristic hemisphere with orbital rings and satellite planets, looking either like a prototype of NASA shuttle or a giant golf ball somewhere on the fields of the Andromeda Nebula. And in the centre is the new Audi A4 in person. When the next test guest got behind the wheel, put on 3D glasses and pressed the ignition button, a grandiose spectacle began to play out on the inner walls of the dome, taking the driver on a superfast journey far beyond our Galaxy.

"We love doing projects under the brief of 'world's firsts'. It's great that our partners at Audi Russia always catch fire with our ideas, readily pick them up and work with us to create something that no one has ever done before."

Peter Ivanov, Departáment
One turn of the wheel and your "ship" easily bypasses a meteor shower or dodges a fiery sprite flash; one more turn and you witness the most beautiful sunset in the universe, the birth of a new star or the magical dance of four planets that are synchronously folded into Audi's signature rings. And which of these planets to choose for your future life is at your discretion.

For a fortnight of the interactive stereo installation #a4space the test drive was passed by 3000 people. And we thank our partner ArtStayl Media. The obvious success of the show was decided to extend it in VR-format: and for another eight days, visitors to Tsvetnoy flew away on an interstellar journey according to our scenario - this time wearing Samsung Galaxy virtual reality glasses.
